GTS Negotiations!
Hello, I'm ITW and I'm a GTS Negotiations Addict.

I stayed up last night until 3 in the morning using this awesome new feature. It gives me that wonderful "just one more" feeling. I love it.

I've managed to make a few trades, shiny for a shiny, on Negotiations. My favorite new addition to my team is an untouched shiny Vanillite.

My only qualms with the system is they should add a few more emoticons. Maybe a question mark? Some type of universal symbol for Hello and Goodbye...

Anyone else using Negotiations? How do you like it? Get anything good? Tips or tricks, maybe? I have a few that make getting shinies a bit easier, if anyone's interested.

If not, what's your favorite "networking" addition to the new games?

I'm not far enough into the game to have bothered trying it out, but I have to say the in-game explanation for it confuses me /o\
infinipede: machampintothewolves on March 14th, 2011 11:19 pm (UTC)
It's fairly straightforward once you get in to the actual lobby. Top option, set everything as "Any", and search for someone. Once you get into a trade, it works like a normal trade - touch and drag a Pokemon to show them, use the pre-provided emoticons to show your like/dislike of the Pokemon they're showing.

Also, if you're far enough into the game to breed your starter (if it's female) or get some gen exclusives, then you're fine to go on Negotiations. There are some idiots who only want legendaries, but I (and most others) at least try to trade with someone if they're not one of said idiots.

Yeah, you're taking a big chance if you end up trading with a smart hacker. Usually the hacks are obvious, Master Balls and all that.

I haven't gotten anything hacked looking (yet), but I figure it's safer than the normal GTS since you can see the Pokeball caught in, Nature and whatnot.

I tried using it the other day, but it got stuck on the loading/searching for someone screen, so I backed out to the main game.

Yours is adorable too! I love Vileplume, if only half my favorites weren't Grass, Poison or Bug types. ;3;

I love what this gen has done for Bug types! Tangrowth will always be my favorite but I figure I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Accelgor and Scolipede.

Volcarona is awesome as well. SOOO many kickass bugs this gen I don't even

I tried to use it but I couldn't figure out how to get to a different box besides the first, the last, and my part. :c The only thing I had I was willing to trade in any of those boxes was a pansage so it was a no go. I have the feeling I was doing something wrong but I couldn't figure out what. >:
infinipede: magmortarintothewolves on March 15th, 2011 08:08 pm (UTC)
I usually use the stylus on the little bar under the boxes. Slide it to move the boxes. Is that what you were doing? Otherwise I have no idea. :c
thetifftiff on March 15th, 2011 11:58 pm (UTC)
Oh I see what I was doing wrong. I didn't realize I could slide the stylus across it. I was trying to tap the arrows thinking that would change the box. >_>

i just tried it right now, haha the japanese players only offer me legendaries and since i'm only up to my 5th badge, naturally i don't have anything worthwhile yet, and they keep disconnecting :'( i'm not trying to be cheap! TnT

I've only used the GTS Negotiation once, but I love it. <3 I tried it after my second badge and only had some element monkies and Audinos, but some generous soul offered one of their bred Zoruas and I was like *___* <33

I can't wait to try it again once I have more "worthy" pokemon to offer.

I'm super curious how you get shiny trades, though. Is there a way to start it with trainers you know or something, so you know they have shinys to offer as well, or is just offering one of yours and seeing if they offer some back?
infinipede: electivireintothewolves on March 15th, 2011 08:06 pm (UTC)
Yes, you can trade with others you've traded with before both on the normal Wifi club and Negotiations - I think you can also trade with people you've exchanged FC's with but have never traded with, too.

I usually do Random however, and just show them an obvious shiny to see what they think.
TeaRoses: Cyanrosehiptea on March 15th, 2011 06:46 pm (UTC)
I just got a Bulbasaur for a Snivy! And I could have made another trade but I thought the other person was finished and I disconnected.

(And the next person was offering legendaries, at least one of which looked hacked to me because I don't think it could be at that level, so I disconnected. Plus I already had them.)

Thank you for this post! (Well, sort of thank you... I'm afraid I'll get addicted now... XD)

Unfortunately, I mostly get what I believe are youngsters wanting nothing but legendaries to trade. FROWN FROWN FROWN at every offer.

I did get one Japanese player who, upon seeing what I had to offer, changed her offer from three neat Johto Pokemon to three Shellders. Ah well, I didn't have Shellder on this cart yet anyway! So for me it was a good trade.

It is fun, though!

im not sure what GTS Negotiations is, can you explain a lil about it im curious ^.^
infinipede: eridanintothewolves on March 17th, 2011 02:17 am (UTC)
It's where you randomly trade with someone from anywhere in the world who is also using the GTS Negotiations feature at that time. You use emoticons and show each other Pokemon to express what you'd like/not like for your trade.

You can back out of the trade at anytime, too, until the trade has actually started.
lilstarjolteonlilstarjolteon on March 17th, 2011 03:15 am (UTC)
do you have a link to where you can do this?
infinipede: uboa againintothewolves on March 17th, 2011 05:11 pm (UTC)
It's ingame, go to the Pokemon Center terminal, pick GTS, then Negotiations.
