That would completely win me over. Adding a little humour to proposals/weddings is always something I can get behind - they're usually so stressful, so why not lighten things up a little?

There was a post on FML about that not too long ago. Where they guy proposed with the words "I choose you, Pikachu". Which the girl didn't like. XD

I would actually love this, not going to lie. And it could very well happen .. we are Pokemon fanatics and actually have matching Pokeball keychain things that open like this, haha.

I want this to happen to me! I just got a Love Ball yesterday.

Now all I need is a boyfriend....

I dunno, I've never really been a "geeky wedding" fan. This is sorta bordering on that territory. Sure, it's cute now, but what the hell do you tell your kids/adult friends years down the road?

"Well Jimothy, my mamma was a crack whore hippy, and my dad was a pedophile carjacker. Aren't you happy your dad and I were just loser nerds? Now eat yer veggies and do your homework before I beat you so hard that they take you away from me."
Dirk: *FABULOUS*hitokiridirk on April 9th, 2011 04:34 am (UTC)
That's not quite what I was driving at. The whole point of the traditional wedding is that the symbolism is enduring and largely universal. With a "geeky" wedding, a lot of that context is lost in favor of something more impermanent, but "cool" at the time.

Think of it this way; Say you're a pokemon fan now. With the way that the franchise has been going, do you think you'll still be a fan 20-30 years from now, when you have children and an adult life, with all of it's responsibilities to take care of? My guess is...well...maybe, but not to the extent that you would want your wedding photos to feature the rings being delivered in a plastic pokeball.

That's just my two cents, of course. More power to the people who choose to go this route, but it's not for me.

I feel like i'm going to still be playing Pokémon when I'm 30. I'll probably have like, Platinum and it'll be 'retro'.
Dirk: Raiden - Red Eyehitokiridirk on April 11th, 2011 04:56 pm (UTC)
I'm 29 now, I'll be 30 in 3 months XD

I'm a pokemon fan too, and likely will be for the rest of my life, but I know where to draw the line between my fandoms and the rest of my life. Being a fan of something doesn't always mean that it has to dominate every aspect of your life, that's just obsession.
ittillieyo on April 12th, 2011 12:15 pm (UTC)
I've been playing Poke'mon since it started like 12 years ago, and been living with my boy over 6 years. We tivo the cartoon and watch it. I make a passable adult, doing errands and paying bills or whatever, but honestly, I just don't GET tradition. I am not going to be boring and stop doing things I like just because I'm "too grown". If I want to wake up late on Saturday and eat cereal and watch cartoons, I'm gonna do it. If that makes me wrong... then, well. I really don't see how it's affecting anyone's life but my own.

So glad I'm not the only one. I can pass as a respectable university student with good grades, but I beg of you, don't ask me what I do in my spare time. And I usually lie in job interviews if they ask.
